Today we're praying for NCCC. So I decided to write something about it.
I've been living in a community house for 5 years(It's in a town called Seford in the South of the United Kingdom.), sharing all I have, possesing nothing and living a simple life.
And I have wondered why? Why do I live this way? Not owning anything? No TV? No holidays?
I have heard people saying that: " It's great; I don't have to do any shopping, someone else does it" or "I don't have to buy clothes as people share" or even " I don't need to care about bills". Yes it's all true, but however nice is the fact that I don't do shopping, it ain't the main reason I live in community. Maybe is the people then. Well yes, I love those I live with, but it can be difficult sometimes. We come from different cultures, and backgrounds and we can get "lost in translation" sometimes.
But I tell you why I live in community, with everything in common. It's because I want to be available! Yes, I want to be available to give it all for the sake of the Kingdom. I want to be available if the church needs me. I want to be available to give, to see people finding God. I want to be available to my brother/sister when they need me.
Many might go to church to see how they can be served; but community is for those who want to serve, to give.
That's why.
I'm available.
